D Cheng & Co was established, and merged with T Wong & Partners co-developing business in Hong Kong

After the merge, HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng started to develop various professional services, such as general business consulting, tax services, corporate services, audit assurance services, China services, corporate finance services ("CFS") and regulatory and financial industries services ("RFI") etc.

To cope with the rapid expansion of HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng's business services, the office was relocated to Gloucester Tower, The Landmark. Number of staff reached 230.

HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng successfully registered with Public Company Accountants Oversight Board (PCAOB) in US.

Mr David Cheng was elected Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants Association's (AOTCA) Annual Meeting held in Hong Kong.

HLB International joined an overseas students internship programme organized by the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA).  Four students were recommended to our firm and were assigned to work in our Audit and Assurance Department for three months.  The students were selected after competing with candidates from 22 universities in China.

HLB International attended the 11th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) as exhibitor.

HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng sponsored the Cross-Straits Accounting Profession Conference held in Hong Kong.

HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng was one of the supporting organizations of the Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Awards (BCGD).  Mr Raymond C C Cheng was an appointed member of the Quality Review Panel of BCGD and the Director of our Risk Management Department was an appointed member of the Compliance Review Panel of BCGD.
