Alex graduated with an honours degree in Information System and Data Processing in the United Kingdom. While Alex was living in Canada, he decided to join the audit profession. He acquired his training in Canada before joining HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng. As the Firm’s Managing Director, Mr. Hon is responsible for managing the Firm’s overall practice and assisting the Chairman in implementing the Firm’s strategies.

Alex gained extensive experience in auditing a wide variety of businesses ranging from manufacturing and trading companies, publishing and distribution, credit unions, legal practices, properties investments and not-for-profit organisations. He also audits various companies which are listed on the Canadian Venture Exchange in Canada and NASDAQ in the United States. After joining HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng, Alex further extends his experience by specialising in IPO assignments and auditing for listed companies, both in Hong Kong and in the United States.

Alex has been involved in several internal control review assignments, both in Canada and Hong Kong. He has also gained experience in various business valuation assignments, business share valuation and due diligence projects.

Alex served as a Committee Member of the Practice Review Committee (2011 – 2014), Committee Member of the Professional Conduct Committee (2013 – 2018) and a Member of the Investigation Panel (2020 – 2021) of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves as a Committee Member of the Registration and Practising Committee (2021 – Present) of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
